How to fold a flat nappy

Kite fold

  1. Start with the nappy as a flat square.
  2. Fold the sides of the nappy into an imaginary centre line to match the pictures.
  3. Fold down the top triangle.
  4. Fold the bottom up to square off the front of the nappy. You can alter the amount you fold up to change the size of the nappy.
  5. Fold up the front of the nappy between your baby’s legs, bring the sides around and fasten with a snappy if desired.

Mini kite fold
The mini kite fold is great for infants and smaller babies. As the name suggests, it’s a version of the classic kite fold seen above.

  1. Start with the nappy as a flat square.
  2. Fold all corners into the centre, to create a smaller square.
  3. Bring two opposite corners into the midline. This will give you your “kite”.
  4. Fold top corner in, so now you have a triangle.
  5. Bring bottom corner up. This step will determine the rise and will depend on the size of your baby.
  6. Fold up the front of the nappy between your baby’s legs, bring the sides around and fasten with a snappy if desired.

Origami fold
The origami fold provides excellent absorption and a great coverage.

  1. Start with the nappy as a flat square.
  2. Fold the nappy in half horizontally.
  3. Fold the nappy half again, but vertically this time to make it square.
  4. Take the top layer of fabric from the top right-hand corner and…
  5. …pull to the left to make a triangle.
  6. Flip the whole nappy over to the back.
  7. Fold the top two layers in thirds to create an absorbent pad through the middle of the nappy.
  8. Place baby in the middle of the nappy and fold front flap up. Fold side flaps to centre. Wrap on a nappy to secure in place.

Pad fold
A simple pre-folded flat nappy. This fold can also be used as an additional insert for the All-in-One and One-Size nappy.

  1. Start with the nappy as a flat square.
  2. Fold the nappy in half horizontally.
  3. Fold the nappy half again, but vertically this time to make a square.
  4. Fold one side towards the middle and repeat with the other side.
  5. Place in nappy cover.
